 A Fortuitous Find

I was walking along Trousdale Parkway this afternoon and I ran into Andrew Jackson.  He was just lying there on the floor, all alone.  Of course, I did what anyone else would have done and looked around before putting him in my pocket.  There was no one within 50 yards of me.  Of course, I thought for a moment that I might be on some sort of hidden camera show; that this might be some sort of sociological experiment (and that I was about to become part of someone's quantitative data), or that someone might be re-tracing their steps looking for their misplaced friend but none of these would turn out to be the case.

Sadly, later in the day, April told me about a time she went swimming in a lagoon out in Palm Springs.  She was diving around and came upon a five dollar bill and decided to dive some more and found a twenty as well.  Of course, both of these stories pale in comparison to the time when my parents were walking up Fair Oaks and found a coin purse with nothing but two one-hundred dollar bills and a twenty dollar bill in it.  What were they to do other than keep it?  So they bought a brick on the main walkway of the South Pasadena Middle School and had our family name etched into it.  Forever, our luck shall be remembered.  That and how arbitrarily we then spent it.
